Planning a trip to Toronto for the 2026 World Cup or just looking for a well-located hotel in downtown Toronto?
In this Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Downtown Review, I’ll share my honest experience staying at one of the most convenient hotels in downtown Toronto.
During my recent trip to Toronto, I stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Downtown. I’ve stayed in quite a few hotels over the years, and location is usually one of the first things I look at when booking a hotel. After spending a few days here, I can honestly say this is a hotel I would consider staying at again.
Location: One of the Biggest Reasons to Stay Here
If you’re visiting Toronto for the 2026 FIFA World Cup ⚽, this hotel is in a very convenient location. BMO Field (Toronto Stadium) is about 30 minutes away by subway. 🏃
What I liked most, though, was how easy it was to explore the city from here.
The Toronto Sign, Eaton Centre, restaurants, cafes, and many of the city’s main attractions are all within walking distance. If you’re planning a Niagara Falls day tour, many tour companies also offer pickups from the downtown area nearby.
One thing I always pay attention to when traveling alone is the neighborhood.
Even within downtown Toronto, some areas become noticeably quieter at night. This hotel, however, is located in a busy part of the city with plenty of people around throughout the day and evening. Personally, I felt comfortable walking around the area on my own.
For solo travelers, especially solo female travelers, I think the location is one of this hotel’s strongest points.
Room Review
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable.

I stayed in a room with two double beds, and even though I was traveling alone, I could easily see two to four people staying here comfortably.

The beds were soft and comfortable, and there was plenty of room to move around without feeling cramped.

There was also a sofa, table, and work desk, which made the room feel practical for both leisure and business travelers.

If you need to get some work done during your trip, the desk setup is definitely a plus.
Coffee, Bathroom & Small Details
The room came with a coffee machine, although I ended up getting my coffee from Tim Hortons every day, so I never actually tried it!

The bathroom was clean and well maintained.

My only minor complaint was the shower. It only had a fixed rainfall-style showerhead, and I personally prefer having a handheld option. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it’s something worth mentioning.

The view overlooked nearby downtown buildings. Nothing spectacular, but I actually enjoyed the city atmosphere, especially in the evening.
Nearby Facilities
Another thing I appreciated was how convenient the surrounding area was.
There are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores, and even an IKEA within walking distance.
Everything I needed was nearby, which made the trip much more enjoyable.
I’ve visited Toronto multiple times, and one thing I’ve learned is that staying in the right location can make a huge difference.
Most of the attractions people visit are concentrated around downtown, so being able to walk almost everywhere saved both time and energy.
Downtown Hotel vs Airport Hotel
I’ve also stayed at hotels near Toronto Pearson Airport before.
While airport hotels can be convenient if you’re catching an early flight or simply passing through Toronto, getting from the airport area to downtown can easily take over an hour and often requires transfers.

Would I Stay Here Again?
Yes.
Would this be the most luxurious hotel in Toronto? No.
But if you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-located hotel with easy access to the city’s main attractions, I think Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Downtown is a solid choice.
I would especially recommend it for:
✔ First-time visitors to Toronto
✔ Solo travelers
✔ Visitors attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup
✔ Travelers joining Niagara Falls day tours
✔ Anyone who wants to stay in the heart of downtown Toronto
