During a recent trip to Vancouver, I stayed at Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel. The main reason I booked it was because I didn’t want to spend ages getting to and from the airport. The hotel is only about 7 minutes from Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and there’s also a free airport shuttle.
A lot of people fly into Vancouver before heading to Banff, so if you’re looking for somewhere comfortable to stay before continuing your trip, I think this hotel is worth considering.
It’s also a convenient option for anyone attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup ⚽🏃, as BC Place is only about 15 minutes away by car and can also be reached by public transportation.
Hotel prices can increase quite a bit during the summer season, Banff travel season, and major events like the World Cup. If you’re planning a trip, it’s worth checking the latest rates for your travel dates below.
Room Review
The room was clean, comfortable, and bigger than I expected.

I stayed in a room with two queen beds. Even though I was traveling alone, I could easily see four people staying here comfortably.
One thing I always notice in hotels is whether there’s enough space to actually live out of your suitcase for a few days.
I had two suitcases open the entire time and never felt cramped.

There was also a table and seating area, which was nice when I brought food back to the room in the evening.

The Unexpected Feature I Loved
The thing that surprised me most?
The microwave!!✨

I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels over the years, but I honestly can’t remember another hotel that had a microwave in every room.
It ended up being much more useful than I expected.
There was also a Nespresso machine in the room, and since the ice machine was right outside, I ended up making iced Americanos every morning before heading out.

It’s a small thing, but it made the stay feel a bit more convenient.
Bathroom & Amenities
The bathroom was clean and had everything I needed.
There was a bathtub and a rainfall shower, which felt pretty nice after a long travel day.

One thing I found slightly odd was that slippers weren’t already in the room.
I called the front desk and they brought some up right away, but I did find myself wondering why they weren’t there in the first place.

The bed itself was comfortable and soft.
The pillows, however, weren’t my favorite. Not terrible, but definitely not the most comfortable hotel pillows I’ve slept on.
Around the Hotel
The hotel has a small outdoor garden area that I thought was surprisingly nice.
There’s also an outdoor swimming pool, which would probably be great during the warmer months.

The surrounding area was more convenient than I expected too.
There are shopping centers, restaurants, and plenty of places to grab food nearby.
I also noticed quite a few Asian supermarkets and restaurants around Richmond, which gave the area a very local feel.
Location & Safety
If you’re staying here because of the airport, the location is hard to beat.
Lansdowne Station is about a 15-minute walk away, so getting into downtown Vancouver is pretty straightforward.
I visited areas like Gastown and had no issues getting around.
Uber rides to downtown were usually around 20 minutes depending on traffic.
As someone who often travels alone, I also pay attention to how safe an area feels.
One evening, I walked around the neighborhood by myself and personally felt comfortable.
Of course, every traveler should use common sense wherever they go, but I never felt particularly uneasy during my stay.
Would I Stay Here Again?
If I had an early flight, a long layover, or was heading to Banff after arriving in Vancouver, then yes, I would definitely stay here again.
If my main goal was sightseeing in downtown Vancouver for several days, I’d probably choose a hotel closer to the city center.
But for airport convenience, this hotel did exactly what I needed it to do.
I Would Recommend This Hotel For:
✔ Travelers flying in or out of Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
✔ Visitors heading to Banff after arriving in Vancouver
✔ People with an early morning flight
✔ Solo travelers
✔ Families needing a spacious room
✔ Visitors attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup
