Room Condition & The Iconic Armchair View
As soon as I walked into the room, I immediately fell in love with the aesthetic. The interior has a cozy, classic library-inspired atmosphere!! The room is super spacious, immaculately clean, and modern.
This stylish blue accent chair was absolute perfection! Sitting here with a coffee, taking in the endless view of Melbourne and even catching a glimpse of the ocean off in the distance to the right made me feel like a total CEO.
On the other side of the room, there is a dedicated work desk. It’s super convenient if you need to work during your stay.
For me, the view is the single most important factor when choosing a hotel, and this open, sweeping skyline view exceeded all my expectations every time I stayed here.
The minibar comes fully stocked with beverages, spirits, and snacks (minibar items are paid, though a few small snacks were complimentary). As expected from a 5-star property, the white wine and champagne were perfectly pre-chilled, while the red wines were set out at ideal room temperature.
For coffee lovers, there is a Nespresso capsule coffee machine in the room, which is completely free to use. I requested an ice bucket from room service and made myself a fresh iced Americano right by the window!
Thoughtful Amenities & Bathroom Tour
The wardrobe comes with plush bathrobes, slippers, and an iron stored neatly on the top shelf.
The room also includes a tablet control system, making it effortless to order room service or request hotel amenities.
The bathroom was sparkling clean and well-lit. While having a completely separate shower and bathtub setup would have been slightly better, having a deep soaking tub with excellent water pressure was still satisfying after a long day of sightseeing.
The complimentary bathroom amenities were by Balmain, adding another layer of luxury to the entire stay.
Hotel Facilities: Lobby & Gym with a View
The ground-floor lobby and public spaces feel grand and elegant. Another major convenience is that the hotel is directly connected to a large shopping complex that features a variety of restaurants, cafes, and even a movie theater!
If you like staying active while traveling, you will love the hotel gym. While it may not have an overwhelming amount of heavy workout gear, the stunning view while running on the treadmill makes working out here a fantastic experience. Plus, there are complimentary massage chairs available in the fitness area!

Location wise, Sofitel Melbourne on Collins is practically unbeatable. Situated in the prestigious CBD area, you are right in the heart of Melbourne’s best shopping and cultural attractions.
You can easily walk to top Melbourne spots like Lune Croissant, Hosier Lane, Flinders Street Station, and the State Library Victoria in under 20 minutes.
Although Melbourne offers a Free Tram Zone in the city center, the location is so central that you barely even need to wait for a tram. You can simply walk to almost everything!
Final Thoughts
The fact that I chose to stay at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins twice for two nights each time says it all. If you are looking for an unforgettable luxury stay in Australia with panoramic skyline views, top-notch service, and an ideal CBD location, this is an absolute must stay.
