Thinking about booking the New York Marriott Downtown for your upcoming NYC trip? Here is my 100% honest, unfiltered New York Marriott Downtown review. During my recent trip to New York, I spent a few nights at this 4-star property. And it quickly became one of my absolute favorite spots in the city.
The main reason I booked this hotel was its location.
When you’re planning a trip to New York City, most sightseeing falls into three main areas: Midtown (Times Square), Lower Manhattan (Downtown), and Brooklyn.
Most first-time visitors automatically look for hotels around Times Square. But after reading countless reviews, I noticed that hotel prices there are incredibly high, and even at those prices, the rooms often seem small and underwhelming.
That’s what led me to New York Marriott Downtown.

The rooms felt much more modern and spacious, and the location couldn’t have been better. Popular attractions like the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, and One World Observatory are all within easy walking distance.
The hotel is also just a short walk from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, which is perfect if you want to see the Statue of Liberty for free. (I actually booked a guided tour during my trip, but the free ferry is still a fantastic option!)
One of my favorite memories from New York was walking all the way from DUMBO, across the Brooklyn Bridge, and back to the hotel. That’s when I knew I’d picked the perfect place to stay.

🛏️ room Review

I booked a Hudson River View Room, and honestly, waking up to that view every morning was one of the highlights of my trip.
Here is my honest take on the room!

The room was very spacious and cozy. This room had more than enough space to fully open my suitcases without feeling cramped. The lighting was soft and warm, creating a super cozy atmosphere. After walking 20,000+ steps around Manhattan all day, coming back to this room genuinely felt like a relief. So I highly recommend this hotel for honeymooners and families.

The bed and pillows were incredibly plush. I slept like a baby every single night.

There is a neat coffee maker stocked with Seattle’s Best coffee pods. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it definitely hit the spot before I headed out each morning.

The bathroom was sleek, modern, and featured a great walk-in shower.
I visited during the peak of summer when NYC was a literal furnace. Thankfully, the AC worked like a charm and cooled the room down instantly.
The one disappointing thing was that there was a no actual closet or hanging space. It didn’t bother me since I was traveling light with casual clothes, but if you’re carrying business attire or outfits that wrinkle easily, make sure to request a room with a full wardrobe when booking. (I’ve heard that some rooms do have closets!)
And since it’s Manhattan, street noise is a given. I stayed on the 14th floor, and I could still hear the faint hum of traffic and car horns below. If you’re a light sleeper, I highly recommend asking the front desk for a room on a higher floor or one facing away from the main street.
🥂 The 38th-Floor Concierge Lounge Review
If you can get access to the 38th-floor Concierge Lounge (either through your room type or Marriott Bonvoy Elite status), do it. Otherwise, you can usually purchase a day pass for around $50, which is totally worth it in my book.

The best part of the lounge is that You can see the Statue of Liberty directly from here! In a chaotic city like New York, having a quiet, sky-high sanctuary to sip coffee and enjoy that view was priceless.

The lounge is spacious, quiet, and beautifully designed. While I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to try the food service. (they serve breakfast, light snacks, and evening drinks), I loved using the space to crush some work on my laptop. It was incredibly peaceful.

🗽 Final Verdict: Would I Book It Again?
Without a doubt, yes.
If you want a modern, spacious hotel in Lower Manhattan that lets you skip the exhausting crowds and crazy prices of Midtown, the New York Marriott Downtown is an absolute winner.
Happy travels! 🗽🇺🇸
** If you’re visiting New York for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, New York Marriott Downtown is a fantastic place to stay. The hotel offers easy access to both Manhattan’s top attractions and MetLife Stadium, where the New York area World Cup matches including the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final will take place. Expect a journey of around 45–70 minutes by public transportation or 25–40 minutes by car. It’s the perfect opportunity to combine sightseeing in New York City with the excitement of watching the world’s biggest football tournament.
