I stayed at Hyatt Regency Boston Cambridge while visiting Harvard University, MIT, and Boston University, and I honestly couldn’t have picked a better location.
If you’re planning a campus tour in Boston, this hotel is a great choice. Harvard, MIT, and Boston University are all within easy reach, and the hotel even offers a complimentary shuttle service to Harvard Square. I actually walked to Harvard myself, but having the shuttle option is definitely a nice bonus.
Combined with the beautiful Charles River views and comfortable rooms, this ended up being one of my favorite hotel stays in the Boston area.

Hotel Category: 4-Star Hotel ⭐⭐⭐⭐
During my stay, I found it to be one of the better value-for-money hotels in the Boston area. Boston hotels can be notoriously expensive, but this property often falls within the $200–300 USD per night range, making it a great option for both tourists and university visitors.

Room review
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable.

One feature I particularly appreciated was the bathroom layout. (The bathroom is located right behind the bed! ). Unlike some modern hotels that use glass walls or partially open bathrooms, the bathroom here was fully separated from the sleeping area, making it much more comfortable when sharing the room with someone else.

Everything felt well maintained and the room had plenty of space to relax after a day of sightseeing.

The room came with a coffee machine and both regular and decaf coffee options. I enjoyed a cup of coffee while getting some work done in the room, and it was actually pretty good.

The bathroom was also super clean. A small detail that stood out to me was the makeup remover wipes provided in the bathroom. It’s not something I often see, even at many upscale hotels, and it was a thoughtful touch.

Complimentary Shuttle Service

One of the most useful perks of staying here is the complimentary shuttle service.
The shuttle operates to several nearby destinations, including: Harvard Square, Harvard Square, Central Square.
If you’re planning to visit Harvard University, this can save you both time and transportation costs.
One helpful tip: make sure to tell the driver your destination before boarding, as the shuttle does not automatically stop at every location.
I later found out that guests can also request pickups, although I personally took public transportation on my return trip.
Charles River Views
Another highlight of this hotel is its location right next to the Charles River.
Whether you’re looking out from the hotel or taking a walk along the waterfront, the river views are beautiful and incredibly relaxing.
It was one of my favorite parts of the stay and made the hotel feel much more peaceful than many properties located in downtown Boston.
Location
The biggest advantage of this hotel is definitely its location.
Hyatt Regency Boston/Cambridge sits right along the Charles River and is surrounded by some of the most well-known universities in the United States.
- MIT: approximately 10 minutes away
- Harvard University: accessible via complimentary shuttle
- Boston University: directly across the river

One thing I really enjoyed was being able to walk along the Charles River. The area felt peaceful, scenic, and much quieter than downtown Boston. During my stay, I saw plenty of locals jogging, cycling, and enjoying the waterfront.
There is also a Target store within walking distance, which was convenient for picking up snacks, drinks, and other travel essentials.
The hotel is about a 35-minute drive from Gillette Stadium, one of the venues for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. If your main purpose is attending World Cup matches, staying closer to the stadium may be more convenient. However, for visitors planning to explore Harvard University, MIT, Boston University, and downtown Boston, I think this hotel offers a much better overall location.
